Lokaal-SEO-vriendelijke bedrijfsnamen: de voordelen en nadelen
Online is niet meer weg te denken. En vaak gelden er andere “spelregels” dan offline. Zo kan de naam van je bedrijf een grote rol spelen in je (lokale) vindbaarheid. Het kan dus zijn dat je een verandering van de naam van je bedrijf overweegt, naar een naam die lokaal beter rankt. Het plan is om een “keyword” + plaatsnaam in je naam op te nemen. Maar wat is nu verstandig.
Spelregels
Als bedrijfsnaam wil je waarschijnlijk je je primaire keyword (hét woord waarop je vindbaar wilt zijn), of je Google Mijn Bedrijf categorienaam gebruiken. De spelregels van Google Mijn Bedrijf zeggen feitelijk dat je de geregistreerde Kamer van Koophandel bedrijfsnaam moet hanteren. Om volgens deze spelregels te spelen, kun je je handelsnaam wijzigen, of je kunt een handelsnaam toevoegen. Dat laatste levert het meeste voordeel:
- Het wordt snel gewijzigd (binnen enkele werkdagen)
- Het komt met een kleine kost
- Je originele bedrijfsnaam blijft behouden
- Je kunt een “keyword” opnemen in je bedrijfsnaam
Het al dan niet wijzigen en/of toevoegen van je bedrijfsnaam heeft meerdere voor- en nadelen. Hieronder vind je ze op een rij.
Pluspunten voor een generieke, “lokaal-SEO-vriendelijke” naam
- Je bent makkelijker vindbaar op die zoekterm (en misschien soortgelijke termen). De naam van je Google Mijn Bedrijf-pagina beïnvloedt je Google Maps-ranking meer dan het zou moeten.
- Meer relevante anchor-tekst in links. Telkens wanneer de tekst van een link naar je site de naam van je bedrijf is, bevat de koppeling een “keyword” en misschien je stad natuurlijk.
- De beoordelingen van sommige klanten bevatten die zoekmachine-vriendelijke naam. Onze ervaring is dat de inhoud van de reviews je zichtbaarheid kan vergroten.
- Voor sommige zoektermen ben je mogelijk de enige onderneming die wordt weergegeven op de lokale kaart
- Misschien kun je gewoon geen goede naam bedenken.
Nadelen van een generieke, “lokaal-SEO-vriendelijke” naam
- Het is gemakkelijk voor je concurrenten om hetzelfde te doen. De meesten zullen zich niet druk maken over hun naam, maar er hoeven, maar een paar concurrenten hetzelfde te doen wat ten kosten gaat van het resultaat.
- Je kunt slechte recensies van concurrenten krijgen. Hun boze klanten kunnen je verwarren met je concurrenten.
- Concurrenten krijgen misschien goede beoordelingen. En hierover kan ook verwarring ontstaan bij je klanten.
- Over het algemeen kunnen meer mensen denken dat jij en je concurrenten tot dezelfde organisatie behoren (misschien maak je deel uit van een keten). Dat kan leiden tot verwarrende telefoontjes, vervelende e-mails, verwisselde kortingsbonnen, slechte pers en meer.
- Je kunt gemakkelijk aangezien worden voor spam. Concurrenten en ook mensen die het goed bedoelen kunnen Google Maps-bewerkingen op je naam indienen. Ga er niet vanuit dat Google de juiste beslissing neemt om deze bewerkingen toe te passen.
- Het controleren van citations kan moeilijker zijn. Jij (of een derde partij waarmee je werkt) kunt bedrijfsvermeldingen vinden die niet van je zijn en je mist vermeldingen die wel tot je bedrijf behoren.
- Google heeft het misschien moeilijker om zoekopdrachten te vinden die specifiek voor je bedrijf zijn bedoeld. Vanwege je generieke, brede naam blokt Google waarschijnlijk de zoekresultaten met andere bedrijven dan die van je, voor het geval de persoon niet naar je bedrijf op zoek was.
- Je kunt je naam waarschijnlijk niet vastleggen.
- Je mist de voordelen van een catchy, gedenkwaardige naam.
Zo kun je jouw bedrijf toevoegen op Google Maps
Wanneer je vaak gebruik maakt van Google Maps, zul je merken dat lang niet alle bedrijven zichtbaar zijn. Ook zul je merken dat gegevens ontbreken, of zelfs onjuist zijn. Vooral wanneer het je eigen bedrijf betreft, wil je dat uw doelgroep je bedrijf makkelijk op Google Maps kan vinden. Als uw bedrijf niet zichtbaar is op Google Maps wordt dat vrij lastig. Gelukkig kun je zelf vrij eenvoudig je eigen bedrijf toevoegen. Hoe je dat doet, leg ik in dit artikel uit.
Controleer
Als eerste stap moet je er zeker van zijn dat je bedrijf echt nog niet bestaat op Google Maps. Het komt namelijk wel eens voor dat een bedrijf meerdere keren op Google Maps staat. Dat gaat ten koste van een goede vindbaarheid.
Om te controleren of je bedrijf al zichtbaar is op Google Maps, doe je het volgende:
- Ga naar https://www.google.com/maps.
- Vul rechtsboven de naam van je bedrijf in.
- Als er meerdere bedrijven met een soortgelijke naam bestaan, specificeer dan door het toevoegen van je straatnaam en/of postcode:
Staat je bedrijf er tussen, dan is je bedrijf wel zichtbaar in Google Maps en kan uw doelgroep je gewoon vinden. Kunt u uw bedrijf niet vinden? Ga dan verder met de volgende stappen.
Google Mijn Bedrijf
Als je bedrijf niet vindbaar is op Google Maps, controleer dan via Google Mijn Bedrijf (ook wel Google My Business) of je je bedrijf daar kunt vinden. Dat doet je als volgt:
- Ga naar https://www.google.com/intl/nl_nl/business/.
- Klik op “Nu starten”.
- Log in met je Google Account (klik hier als je niet weet of je een Google Account hebt, of heb er geen hebt).
- Eenmaal ingelogd ga je naar https://business.google.com/create?c=https://business.google.com/manage/. Als het goed is, zie je daar onderstaand scherm:
- Start met het invullen van je bedrijfsnaam. Naarmate je typt, verschijnen suggesties. Als je bedrijf overeenkomt met een van deze suggesties, selecteer deze dan. Deze suggesties zijn namelijk bedrijven die al bestaan op Google Maps.
- Komt je bedrijf niet overeen met een van deze suggesties, ga dan naar de volgende stap en vul de adresgegevens van je bedrijf in en klik op “volgende”.
- Als Google denkt dat je bedrijf overeenkomt met een al bestaand bedrijf, dan krijg je alsnog suggesties. Komt een van deze suggesties overeen, selecteer deze dan. Zo niet, selecteer dan “Dit kom niet overeen”:
- Doorloop de hierop volgende stappen en voltooi de aanmelding. Als je bedrijf nog niet bestaat, zul je na het voltooien van deze stappen jouw aanmelding moeten verifiëren. Dat gebeurt doorgaans door middel van een code die per post wordt toegestuurd (hier lees je hoe je een bedrijf op Google kunt verifiëren).
